U.S. Mayors Workforce Development Council meets on youth and workforce policy


The U.S. Mayors Workforce Development Council recently met with various stakeholders regarding youth unemployment. At the meeting, Greg Irish, General Manager of Community Development Department for Los Angeles, shared the statistics that about 10 percent of all high schools produce more than 40 percent of the nation’s dropouts, and in today’s workforce, 60 percent of adults who dropped out of high school are unemployed. Hear more about Irish and fellow panelists’ work to establish a high school recovery system, as well as other presenters’ efforts to help under employed populations such as veterans.
